Valentina Gallegos, Risk Adjustment & Quality Specialist at CHPA, has over two years of risk adjustment experience and recently achieved her Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) certification through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). As you know, Certified Risk Adjustment Coders (CRCs) play a critical role in establishing accurate risk scores for patients for our CHCs, which promotes optimal patient care and ethical payer reimbursement for our providers and health plans.
As a credentialed CRC, Valentina has expertise in the complexity of diseases associated with chronic conditions and comorbidities, as well as mastery of ICD-10-CM guidelines and risk adjustment guidelines. She is equipped both to ensure clinical documentation accurately portrays the patient’s health status and ensures all clinically documented diagnoses are properly reported each year on each patient she reviews.
Along with the CRC certification, Valentina also successfully completed the Transition into Leadership training, offered through Employers Council, where she learned important leadership skills on communication (where she holds her BA degree), performance/relations management, developing direct reports, and guiding/organizing work. Valentina looks forward to putting her new learned skills into practice with CHPA.
